What is Motherboard in a computer? Parts of Motherboard
What is Motherboard: In this article, we will know what is Motherboard in a computer? And we’ll know about it’s all parts too.
Hello Friends, welcome back to all of you in our blog Starchand once again. As such, all the parts in a computer are complementary to each other. If there is not a single part, then the entire computer will not run.
Be it the CPU, RAM, battery, DVD writer, HDD, mouse, or keyboard all of these contribute to the running of the computer. Today in this article, we will know What is motherboard in a computer? And all parts of motherboard in a computer.
So let’s get started, and first of all, we know what is motherboard?
✫ What is Motherboard?
A motherboard is a circuit board inside a computer, laptop, and other expandable systems. Every electronic part in the computer system is connected to it such as the Central Processing Unit, Random Access Memory, DVD writer, graphic card, hard driver, mouse, keyboard, and monitor.
It holds and allows all communications between crucial electronic components and user in the computer system or a laptop.
If we talk about the types of motherboards, then Six types of motherboards are available.
We also call it PCB i.e. Printed Circuit Board. Although there are many small and major parts of motherboard.
So friends, after reading the above paragraph, we have known that what is motherboard? and friends now we will know about all major parts of motherboard.
✫ Parts of Motherboard
● CPU Socket
The CPU socket is the part on it inside the computer on which the processor is mounted. In every computer system, the processor is installed according to the capacity of the pc. Like you might have heard the name P1, P2 dual-core, quad-core, octa-core, core i3, core i5, core i7, etc.
● Ram Slot
The RAM slot consists of the computer’s RAM. This is a small part of a computer but a very important part. Whenever we go to buy a computer, we buy a computer with good RAM so that it can work at the right speed.
The more RAM a computer has, the more smooth and unhindered it will be because a computer with more RAM can run multiple applications simultaneously, whereas a computer with less RAM hangs when opening more applications simultaneously because it cannot handle it.
● IDE Connector
IDE has full form Integrated Drive Electronics. It is used to connect some hard drives and optical drives to the motherboard. But now the IDE is a bit outdated so it is rarely seen.
Now instead of this, SATA cable is used which works smaller and faster than this. SATA cable is also available in different types in the market like SATA 1, SATA 2, SATA 3, etc.
● BIOS Chip & CMOS Battery
CMOS has a full-form Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor. This is a battery-powered semiconductor chip that stores information. These can range from the system, time and date to the computer’s system hardware settings. When your computer starts, the BIOS chip uses to store information in it.
The standard lifetime of a CMOS battery is up to 10 years, but it depends on the use and environment of the computer. If the CMOS battery fails, the system settings, date, and time will not be saved and if your computer is off for too long then the CMOS battery can also be discharged.
● North Bridge & South Bridge
The motherboard of a computer is divided into two parts, the North Bridge and the South Bridge. The North Bridge memory manages the PCI slot and the South Bridge processor manages the network card.
● Rear Connector
These are the ports on the edge of the computer to which you connect things like your mouse, keyboard, and data cable. Such as PS / 2, Dual Link, USB, Optical Digital Output, VGA, HDMI, eSATA, Audio & GbE LAN port, etc.
● Graphics Card Slot
This is a slot on the right side below the motherboard, which allows us to view the video and images on our computer. The graphic card is also called the video card.
If your pc doesn’t have any graphic card, then we will not be able to watch the video on our computer. Nowadays, the best graphic cards are installed on the computer and even two video cards are installed so that we can also play high-quality games.
So friends, after reading this article we have known that what is motherboard? and as well as we have known about the all major parts of the motherboard.
